The excitement of parenthood

Whilst parenting is hard, there are SO many things to look forward to. I find myself thinking of them and getting a pang of excitement, whilst also not wanting to wish her life away.

The first time they look at you in the eyes and say ‘Mummy’. The first time they purposefully give you a hug, just because they want to. The pride you feel when they take their first steps, and how you panic thinking, ‘I should have appreciated the time when they were still more!’ The first birthday party with friends to see how excited they get. The first time they swim independently after years of lessons and practicing. The first time they sleep all the night through (I think that’s more exciting for us than them haha).

Being a parent is really scary, but the positives and excitement far outweighs any negatives that I could possibly think of. I feel blessed to be able to watch Ivy grow and develop into the wonderful woman I am sure she will become. It’s an honour to watch it and to have my family and friends come along on the journey!
