A letter to my daughter

To my most precious daughter Ivy,

Thank you for making me a Mummy. As cliche as it sounds, I never knew true love until I held you for the first time and looked into your eyes. My heart doubled in size that day and I never knew I could love someone as much as I love you. You have taught me so much about myself and showed me my strength. You’ve shown me what it is to be patient, even when I am frustrated. You’ve shown me what it is to be loved, when you calm down by my touch. You’ve shown me what it is to be truly happy, when you smile at my face, even when I’m being silly.

You’ve also taught me what it is to be fiercely protective. I am willing to stand up for what I think is right now, especially when it comes to you. I will always defend you as I know at the moment you are too little to do it for yourself (let’s be honest, when you’re older you are going to be independent enough to speak your own mind!)

You’ve brought your Mummy and Daddy even closer together too. You’ve created an invisible bond that links us together, we will always work as one to give you the best life possible, as that’s what you deserve. We want to create all of the best memories with you and to give you a childhood to remember.

So, thank you again for giving me the best job in the world, being your Mummy. Whilst you can’t communicate yet, I know that you get me more than anyone else could. I can’t wait to see what you grow up to be and how your life will pan out. I will be there through it all - the crying, the inevitable heartbreak, the hysterical laughter. The truth is, I can’t wait.

I love you to the moon and back my little sunshine.

Love,

Mummy x
