Autumn bucket list

Autumn is my favourite season by far. Nothing can beat the changing leaves, crisp air and the sense of cosiness. Autumn is the best time of year to create yearly traditions, especially if you have children, to make memories together. We’ve started to do some this year so I thought I would share some!

- Pumpkin picking

We are lucky to have a massive choice of pumpkin fields near us so we are spoilt for choice. It’s great fun being able to walk around with your wheelbarrow and choose which ones you want (and there are far more than just the standard orange ones!)

- Conker collecting

This is the sign that autumn is truly here. You can actually find on Google where all the conker and acorn trees are locally to you as they are plotted onto a map. We went to one of our local parks and came back home with pockets full of them. Mrs Hinch shared a great idea on her Instagram to make a conker tree. Buy a foam oasis cone (32cm) and then put each conker on a toothpick and place them into the cone. Alternatively, you could put them all in a vase (maybe add some acorns and pine cones) and put them in your favourite room.

- Create an autumn display

I choose to decorate my fireplace seasonally as it brings me great joy! It’s so much fun going around the shops each year and buying little additional pieces to add to the display. The autumn one we have is all about the oranges, coppers and reds. I have a woodland theme for this one and then add more Halloween elements the closer it gets to the day!

- Visit a National Trust and spot the wildlife

We are yet to do this one but it’s very much on our list. National Trust properties are at their most beautiful in autumn as all the trees are changing colour and there are lots of animals to spot. Ask your child to find a squirrel, bird, snail etc. and they have to tell you once they have spotted one!

What else do you like to do during autumn? I would love to hear some different ideas!
